Morgan's Kindergarten Award Ceremony

On Monday, June 3rd, Morgan's school had a little award ceremony for just the kindergarten classes and their parents. They were giving out awards for children who had never been tardy and who had read over 400 lines. I took Hazel and Pepper with me hoping that they would behave and Morgan would enjoy having all of us there.
In the hallway across from the main office is a bulletin board with stars for every 100 lines of reading. The children get to sign the stars when they've passed the lines. I was excited to find Morgan's signature on the 500 lines star. It's near the bottom and circled.

Morgan looked pretty excited to see us.

I happily sat between Sarah and Vincenzo's mothers, who also happily helped with the wiggly girls.
Sarah received both awards.

Morgan shaking hands with the principle, Mrs. Dean, for the zero tardies award.

Checking out his award.
Morgan said he was surprised because he thought we were always late.
Probably, because I spend most mornings ranting about us running late and trying to hurry up the kids.

Vincezno also getting the zero tardy award.
I was worried for a minute since I'm the one who drives him to school!
Sarah's mom, Stephanie, had it right when she said that award should really go to the parents!

Morgan getting his award for reading over 400 lines.

It's hard for kindergartners to stand still...or keep their hands to themselves.

Happy kid.

Morgan's class.

16 out of 19 kids got awards. Not bad odds!

I was so proud of Morgan and more excited about how proud he was of himself.
I am also thankful that I have the opportunity to go to little ceremonies like this.
Sometimes I feel bad for Cody who always has to miss them...not bad enough to trade places, though!
