Morgan on Vacation

So Morgan decided he'd had enough of his crazy parents and the city's cold weather and planned an impromptu vacay to sunny Florida for 10 days. He flew with Gramma on St. Patty's day and has been living the high life ever since. He hopes Mommy is getting her thesis done so she will have extra time to play with him when he returns.

Morgan's Auntie Jill sent along these photos because the Monkey wanted to show his parents what they were missing. Here he is chilling in his cousin Jane's swing. (Mommy thinks the humidity is getting to Morgan's hair!)

Jane likes to give her cousin lots of hugs and lovin. She's pretty sure he doesn't get enough female attention at home. (Mommy can't believe how dark Morgan's hair looks compared to the true Floridian and agrees that Morgan should just give into the affection since the ladies won't be stopping any time soon!)

Bath time for the cousins. (Mommy appreciates Morgan covering up for the picture and is pretty sure she's going to use these photos to embarrass these two when they're older. Seriously Morgan, what is up with your hair?!)

Sweating and drooling with Gramma in the Florida heat. (Mommy has one question...what IS my child wearing?! I'm pretty sure those are Jane's shorts and that is just not cool Gramma!)

Morgan's parents are glad he's having a great time with all the family in Florida and promise they're not having too much fun without him. Actually, Mommy aka Beth, has not left the house in days because she is glued to her computer typing away. She emailed the entire rough draft of her paper to her professor this morning and hopes he doesn't mind reading over 60 pages regarding the Hill Cumorah Pageant over the weekend.
We love and miss you Morgan and can't wait to see you soon! Thanks Gramma for everything!

Fun Waste of Time

I guess Beth is not that original...

I guess I don't exist anymore before I got married since this is the result that came from using my maiden name...

Uppercase Living Easter Fun

We had a great party on Saturday for those couple ladies who made it. I love parties for many reasons but getting to know wonderful women and really cleaning my house are two priceless bonuses from this particular party. My mom helped me clean, decorate and gather up and make some yummy treats. I am very grateful for her and her support in all I do.
The picture is a sample of a really fun Easter display my two great friends Ashley and Minde came up with, using some egg embellishments from Uppercase Living. They both bought the designs and then the pots from Ikea. The Elmo basket is Morgan's contribution to our Easter display and thanks to the fact that Ashley is currently in Syria, I get to keep the display for the holidays!
If you too want in on the decorating fun just check out the website and let me know how I can help get your creative juices flowing.

Uppercase Living Update

It has only taken 3 and a half years of marriage for Cody and I to finally decorate our bedroom but we finally have something on the walls and we love it! Thanks to Uppercase Living I finally found a decoration I love but that is not permanent or expensive so if we change our minds when we move, no worries. From the first time I saw the catalog, this design was my favorite and thanks to the colors in the beautiful quilt my sister Jill made for us, our walls are a lot less boring! The "Love" is Chocolate Brown (my favorite color that Cody says I have to stop over using...whatever!) and the "Lollipop Flower Boxes" are Violet (because Cody wanted color in our room and I insisted on no blues).

I am having an Uppercase Living/St. Patty's Day party this Saturday afternoon for any ladies living in my area who are interested. We will have food, fun and decorating...what more can you ask for?! You can always explore the catalog online and let me know if there is anything I can help order for you if you cannot make the party. My Demonstrator ID is : 403841 and My Token is: BAdams. Let me know if you have any questions.

Times Square...more like Times Crazy!

Let me begin this post by just declaring how much I LOVE my mom! To me she is the energizer bunny and always willing to try any crazy thing I can cook up no matter how unconventional. During college I convinced her to come on a last minute road trip with me and my roommate to Atlanta, Georgia so we could see the Barenaked Ladies in concert. Growing up she was always the first one in the water, or on the ski slope and the last one to go to bed at night. I have inherited my love for conversation and appreciation for beautiful music of all types from this lovely little mama.
When I was getting ready to have Morgan, I jumped at the idea of having my mother in the delivery room with me...unfortunately Morgan was on the express delivery train and she was about 7 hours too late. However, she was there bright and early the next morning and for the next 5 weeks helping me learn to nurse and keeping Cody and I from completely panicking.
I love that she wanted to come visit us again for a month and we will be sad to see her go. I was not the easiest teenager/early twenties person to deal with and I remember hearing on multiple occasions "I hope you get a daughter just like you one day so you'll know how I feel!", but even when we were arguing I always knew I could talk to her about anything and never feel embarrassed or stupid. I am in awe of her free spirit and world-record testimony of obedience.
Mom you amaze me!
Mom and I after an interesting meal at Macy's. Foot long chili-cheese dogs were probably not the smartest idea for the two of us but Morgan loved the fries!
Mom and I with the Naked Cowboy...no worries his hand is not actually groping my mother but hovering in front of her.

However, his hands are actually on our behinds. I guess he earned his $2...it was pretty cold.

Mom enjoying the bright lights.

Morgan enchanted by the Toys'r'Us Ferris Wheel.

Oh yeah, and Cody came too! Thanks for being a great cameraman!

Portland Headlight

One of my families favorite places in Maine is the Portland Headlight lighthouse. My dad's family had a home in Cape Elizabeth near the lighthouse and it is a truly beautiful spot. Cody and I took one of our favorite pictures at this spot 2 years ago and have it posted on our computer where we see it everyday. Two Passovers ago I won a puzzle for finding the afikomen and once Cody and I put it together, thinking it looked familiar, did we realize it was this same image. Life just makes you smile sometimes.
My dad wearing his "comforter" and Cody looking like he is in another season from the rest of us.

Perfect.

My new favorite article of clothing that I got half off at the LL Bean outlet. It was meant to be!

Portland Headlight take two.

The town of Portland in the distance.

This is how Morgan enjoyed the lighthouse and most of the countryside. Blurry but cozy.

Vacationland for the Beginner

Last Friday Cody, Morgan, my Mom and I drove to Portland, Maine to meet my Father who had flown up from Florida. Both of my parents grew up in a small area of Maine outside Portland and I spent a lot of my childhood summers and Christmases enjoying Vacationland and all its glory. On of its greatest glories according to my family is L.L. Bean! So every time we come to Maine a stop in Freeport is a necessity, along with a trip to Amatos for Italians and Shaw's for cookies and fig bars. Yep, my family basis their trips on food and clothing... oh and we saw a few family members, old friends and landmarks just to seem a little less crazy for driving 6 hours just for cookies!
The Royal Adams enjoying the Maine snow from the porch of LL Bean.
A taste of the different winter Maine has been having from New York.

I love this store!

Morgan's new favorite...stairs!

Morgan meets the Moose.

Now Morgan meets the trout. This store is the coolest.

After a long day of shopping, we lounged by the pool; Morgan enjoying his snazzy new baggies.

My boys by the pool with a wall of snow behind them.

Morgan just excited to be out of the car and able to explore.

We bought Morgan a new snowsuit, hat and mittens at LL Bean and decided to introduce him to snow. It was too hard to walk in and he didn't seem to like it at first. However, once Cody slid him down it, Morgan was sold!

Here's a video of Morgan's first sledding adventure.

Just a taste of the kind of winter they've had. The were actually starting to take it out by dump truck. So glad I don't have to drive in this kind of weather!
