Yesterday was super Tuesday for voters. Morgan's school was a polling place so school was cancelled. We decided to take advantage of the day off to take a trip to Massilon to visit our favorite people, Jen and Ava. My kids go crazy when I tell them we are going to do anything with Jen, Brent and Ava. We just love them and have a blast whenever we get together. Not only did Jen use her many talents to give us all new haircuts but then she kept all the kids entertained all day with many fun activities. After haircuts we had lunch and then, Jen had the kids help her make cookies.
Hazel making funny faces during a diaper change. Pepper picked out her outfit and insisted she wear a bow.
Ava wanted some snuggle time with the cutest baby ever! Morgan refers to Hazel as the "baby of th world!" That's for all you Kevin Henkes fans:)
So, I discovered too late that I had left my camera in the car for a few days. Unfortunately, the cold weather has made it act a little funny and every photo has this white out, blur in the middle of it.
Hazel has discovered her feet. She can't quite put them in her mouth yet but if I do it for her she just smiles and giggles. Good thing they are so long, it will make it easier to play with them.
While Hazel took a nap, the rest of the kids got to paint. Seriously, Jen just rocks and is so laid back about messes. She is so organized though that by the time we left after dinner it looked as if no kids had destroyed her house at all. Something for me to aspire too!
Pepper, of course, had more fun painting on herself. That is why she is the kid with no shirt, while the other two concentrated more on the paper.
Besides painting and cooking, the kids were treated to puppet shows, car races, a dance party complete with disco ball, flannel board stories and lots of running around and playing.
Later in the day, the kids decided to take a break and have some popcorn while watching a movie on their big screen tv and sitting in their huge bean bag chairs. And yes, mom, we brought the mohawk back, teehee.
I have some pictures like this from when I was a baby. I should find them and compare faces to see if my kids really do look just like me, like I think they do.
Hazel is still so little but getting really great at holding her head up and trying to grab things. If she can get a hold of your hand/finger it gets sucked straight into her mouth. She is trying to grab everything off my plate, which makes eating with her a bit of a chore. We have started sleep training and so far she is amazing. She wakes up about 8:15, takes three 1 hourish naps and goes to bed for the night at around 6:45/7. She wakes up so happy, except when I forget to turn on the monitor and leave her a little too long. She is also pretty great about laying down, sleepy but still awake and putting herself to sleep. I just have to give yet another plug for the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child," by Marc Weissbluth. This is always my go to book for sleeping and it has never failed me yet. Lest you think my life is perfect, I am struggling right now with bedtime for three children at around the same time. Hazel goes to bed so easily if I can take about 20/30 minutes to get her ready, swaddle her and nurse her in a nice quiet room and lay her down. This needs to happen right about the same time the other two are bouncing off the walls and ready to go to bed for themselves. Since, Cody is pretty much gone for the month of March or working late when he is here I am doing this a lot alone. It wouldn't be so bad if the other two would not destroy the house, have accidents (just Pepper's problem, thank goodness), and take turns running noisily into the room I'm trying to nurse Hazel in. Ugh. I know we just need to establish a new routine but we are not there yet. Hopefully, soon and hopefully I can figure out a way for the other two to find positive outlets for that end of the day energy.
Oh, and one last plug for amazing, Jen. If you live in my area and are looking for someone to do your hair or kids hair, I reccomend her. She has a great set up at her house but I'm sure she might consider coming up here too. Let me know if you want her info.

Love the pictures. Good luck with the sleep schedules. I'm grateful for all three in the same room so I can corral them in. Alice can still be either perfect or a little too noisy. But Kate is weened, so we're good! Too fun for the play date. I want to be that organized one day too.
