Easter, Easter and More Easter

Saturday, March 31st, my mom and Cody took the kids to the Northwest Akron Rec Center for their annual Easter Egg Hunt. I was sad to hear the Easter Bunny was not there to take pictures with but the kids still had a good time so I guess it was okay. Especially, since I was not there so we couldn't have got a family photo anyway.

The kids getting ready to hunt.

Hazel was raring to go you can tell.

These two just love each other. Morgan can make her giggle just by looking at her. It is the cutest thing.

The Rec Center sets up a "Bunny Pen" for kids under 6. That way the little ones can hunt for eggs in an easier and less hectic environment. It is in a walled in area and they let 6 or so kids in at a time. The eggs are easy to find and they hide more eggs before each group. Such a genius idea!

Here's a video of the kids waiting:

Posing with some Easter bunnies. This counts right?!

Posing with the springtime blossoms that are everywhere and look so pretty. I really love the bright pink and purple trees.

Finally, the big day arrived. The kids have been taking turns waking up in the middle of the night lately, I think they're a little excited that Gramma is here and Daddy home as well. But we told them that they had to stay in their beds so the Easter bunny could come. They did just as they were told and Morgan even slept in a little. Pepper was up bright, or dark and early like usual but I had to prepare my lesson so it was slightly forgivable. Here are videos of the kids coming downstairs:

Pepper helped me decorate some cupcakes for the nursery kids and my primary kids. She just kept telling me, "Momma, I love helping you decorate the pupcakes (her name for them,) I"m such a great helper."

She really is a great helper. They may be a little funky looking but they were made with love!

Since, Cody goes to church very early we didn't get any photos before church. Knowing the likelihood that everyone would look their best by the time we all got home, I had mom take some pictures after sacrament meeting. Cody's mom made the girls matching dresses that were just perfect and super adorable. I love having talented friends and family that like to share those talents with us! Morgan also got a new leather vest that he likes to wear at home. It didn't really go so we got him a new shirt and tie. He decided he wanted yellow and not pink; always has to be his own man!

The three kid shot. Never an easy one but always the chance that at least someone will look cute and in the general direction of the camera.

After a much needed naptime, our friends Becky and Jerry came over with their THREE kids. Yep, that's right Abby and Ben have a new little brother, Andrew or Drew for short. I did not manage to get any pictures of the little, or not so little guy since he was 10 lbs 6 ozs and 23 1/2 ins, but he was there and we all enjoyed his company. The kids decorating some eggs.

Somehow Becky ended up helping Pepper while I helped Ben. It was probably for the best since I know I am always much more patient with someone elses kid:)

Abby taking a moment to pose.

After a lovely dinner of ham and cheese quiche and yummy veggies, and yes I'm tooting my own horn, the dads went outside to hide a ton of plastic eggs Cody filled the night before. While the mommies and grandmas were inside with the babies, Cody and Jerry got the kids psyched for the big hunt. Ben had his own special way of carrying his basket. I think he's watched his sister carry around purses a lot. Here's a video of the start of the hunt:

Cody and Jerry kept hiding the big red egg that had a quarter for each kid so everyone got a chance to find it.

Happy little hunters.

Who's ready to eat candy?!

These are a little out of order because they are from my mom's camera. But here are the full baskets the night before.

The baskets on the stairs awaiting the kids. Surprisingly Hazel did not come downstairs to discover hers. By the time she woke up Pepper had carried her basket all over the place and emptied it out for her. Such a helpful big sister.

Pepper with her loot. Pepper also helped Morgan out by eating his chocolate bunnies and carrots while he was upstairs getting ready for church. Later we gave Morgan Pepper's chocolate to make up for the loss. Pepper declared that "wasn't fair," and it took some convincing to tell her that indeed it was fair and you don't get to keep your candy and eat everyone elses. After that, she went looking for Hazel's basket to see if she could eat Hazel's candy. Alas, Hazel had no candy and Pepper had to start eating the jellybeans. This girl cracks me up!

Morgan, tired but excited for Easter and his goodies.

After church and still looking pretty happy in our pretty dresses.

There is a sister in our ward that loves babies but is done having her own, so she likes to "borrow" other babies to take care of during church. I call her the "baby whisperer" because she is amazing. She takes Hazel during the second hour and instantly puts her to sleep and keeps her that way until she hands her back before teaching in Relief Society. On Easter, since she didn't have to teach, she asked if she could keep her the rest of church. Fine by me! Not only did she give me a chance to attend Sharing Time with my class but she returned Hazel with a new duckie teething tow and bunny slippers. How lucky are we?! And do not be fooled by this cute, effortless looking picture. It took my mom a good fifteen minutes trying to get a picture of Hazel standing in her bunny slippers and not bouncing and stomping her little feet. This girl loves to jump!

Well, that was our Easter holiday. We had a great time with family and friends and reflecting on the beautiful sacrifice of our Savior and the miracle of His resurrection. We hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend as well.

And here's a video of Morgan's acting class showcase that I posted about a few weeks ago. Enjoy:
