On Wednesday, February 26th, Pepper's preschool was invited to attend a special morning performance given by the Soweto Gospel Choir at Akron University. I was very excited to go and wished Cody could have taken the morning off to join us. I was able to take Hazel along with me, which was fun because she loves to dance around to music. Lesli had a meeting so I took Lafe, Pepper and Hazel to the performance on a very cold morning. Parking was a nightmare but all was forgotten once we got into the theatre and saw all the amazing colors and heard the beautiful music!

They did not have a large crowd, just our preschool and an older school group, but they gave a performance like there was thousands in attendance! |
Here is a video of them performing "This Little Light of Mine." The kids thought this was pretty fun since they sing this song a lot at school. (Sorry for the horrible quality; Hazel does not make filming easy!)

After the performance, this small group stayed behind to have a Q & A session with the students. They were so kind and answered all sorts of crazy questions like, "When are your birthdays?" and "Why are you so awesome?" We found out they were a favorite group of Nelson Mandela and have performed before 60,000 people in Germany when they opened for the Foo Fighters. They were so fun and inviting. Such a great experience! |
Such a fun morning and amazing spirit that they brought to the theatre. If you ever find yourself in a position to hear them perform, I highly suggest you do!
