NYC Babymoon

Cody was headed to NYC near the end of March for the Jif peanut butter sandwich contest and we decided it would be a great opportunity for a babymoon. Cody's fantastic mom agreed to come out and watch the kids for us, while we turned his business trip into a weekend away. Grandma arrived late on Tuesday the 18th, Cody left early on Wednesday the 19th and I was supposed to fly out early on the morning of the 20th. I say supposed because I got to the airport super early and boarded my plane just fine but then we just sat there and sat there and sat there.  Long story short, one of the plane's bathrooms didn't work so we had to deplane and then they canceled our flight all together. Because Akron/Canton is a small airport their were no other planes or flights and it was a huge mess and I stood in line for hours and finally Cody (not the people at the airport mind you) got me a flight for the next morning. I was very bummed to miss that day in NYC with Cody and seeing my friend, Kiasa that night, but I managed thanks to Bekah Griesmyer, my amazing mother-in-law and a great Relief Society activity where I won a trivia contest! So, Friday morning, I finally got to NYC and Cody and we had a great weekend together.
We spent a lot of time finding food we wanted to eat. These cupcakes were very yummy, fyi.
Belgian Frites, yes please!
We stayed in this really interesting ultra-modern hotel that Cody had stayed in once before. The rooms are like ship cabins and super small. We had to take lots of pictures. It was fun getting to experience something new.

After a nap and a quick visit to Dr. Cohen's office, we met up with our great friend, Morgen Stevens-Garmon and had dinner at the Shake Shack. It was so great to see her and catch up...and eat very yummy burgers.
Saturday morning we had to get up very early and go to Fox & Friends because the winner of the Jif peanut butter sandwich contest was going to do a little segment. It was fun getting to go to a TV studio and we even got to meet Mike Huckabee. He was there doing another segment and he stopped by us on his way out the door to schmooze us.

His face between takes cracks me up!

Cody waiting for his first food truck falafal.
Columbus Circle near our hotel.
After Cody's falafal, we headed over to the Manhattan Temple to do a morning session. It was so nice to be back in that beautiful and peaceful place. Afterwards, we grabbed ANOTHER food truck falafal (much better this time) and headed over to the Melgar's apartment. They were kind enough to let us stay with them for Saturday night. We hung out with Ashley and the kids and I took a nap. Then the adults got ready for a night out. Tyler and Minde Christensen met Ashely, Cody and I down in Union Square at a great Mexican restaurant, Rosa's. We ate and ate and ate and talked and talked and talked and it was fantastic (the guacamole was AMAZING! I'm still dreaming about it.) We were in the restaurant for 3 hours so it was time to head home when we left. But first we needed a picture of us ladies. That night we found out that Minde was also pregnant and later we found out that Ashley had just found out that she was ALSO pregnant. So, once again, for the FOURTH time, the three of us are pregnant together again! I am so thrilled by this and all seems right with the world!
Love these ladies and miss getting to see them more often!
Cody was determined to get a taxi driving by behind us. He took MANY, many pictures and by then end we were just cracking ourselves up.

Cody and Tyler looking cool...or at least Tyler is!
Ashley's youngest, for now, Sebastian getting ready for church on Sunday.

Eleanor and Pepper are our twinners, since they were born only 2 minutes apart. It was a little crazy how alike in personality they are. I felt like I spent the weekend with Pepper, curly hair and all!

Two seconds before, Eliot had the cutest look on his face, oh well. Here's the big boys getting ready.
The Harlem ward meets at 1 pm so before church, Cameron Kelly and his family invited all of us over for breakfast. We had super yummy pancakes and strawberries and had fun catching up. I'm kicking myself that I didn't get any pictures of this or with Cameron. Oh well, there's always next time:)
Erica Gardiner and I had to capture a baby bump moment. She was a few weeks ahead of me and looked fantastic. So good to see so many friends!
After church, we had a few hours before we had to leave for the airport, so Cody and Ashley headed out for Patsy's pizza and Levain cookies. We all happily gorged ourselves and then sadly said good-bye. I love getting to go back to the City every year or so and see so many friends and places that we love. I must admit it was nice to come home to my suburban house and mini-van but a little vacation was greatly appreciated!
