Truly Ann's Birth

Friday, May 23rd was set as my induction day. I was ECSTATIC!!!! I was SO ready to be done with this pregnancy and meet our new little girl. Cody, Mom and I headed to the hospital early that morning ready to get things started.
This is how I felt to still be pregnant.
This is how I felt to almost be done being pregnant!
Putting on a brave face and showing off just how huge I actually looked.
Dealing with contractions.
The day before at my 39 week appointment they did an ultrasound. They measured her at 9.9lbs so they decided to induce me the next day because they didn't want her to get any bigger. I couldn't have been happier to hear that. I was at 4 cm on Thursday and when I went in Friday I was already at a 5.5cm before they even started anything. Around 9 they broke my water and hooked me up to pitocen. I could not believe how much liquid I had in me. Apparently, she had WAY too much room to swim around and that is why she was not interested in leaving. As soon as the water came out she got into place and things progressed quickly. After my not-so-great epidural experience with Hazel, I was still on the fence about getting another one. I figured if I could progress quickly I would do it naturally. After an hour of really intense contractions and sitting on the yoga ball, I asked the nurse to check me. I was only at a 6! I immediately said I wanted an epidural! The anesthesiologist arrived quickly; the process of getting the epidural put in while dealing with horrible contractions was still not my favorite but as soon as the pain started to subside, I was a happy camper. This time I could still move me feet and legs, feel all the pressure and tightness but no pain. It was fantastic! I could feel when I needed to push and could move when I needed to. I LOVED it, hands off to that doctor! Things continued to move quickly and around noon I was ready to push. We just had to wait for the doctor to arrive from her office a mile down the road. Once we were ready to go, I pushed a couple times and her head was partially out (and yes, that was as comfortable as it sounds!) Gramma looked down and said, "Oh, I can see an eye." The doctors and nurses told her that no, it was that back of her head. My mom thought, "Well, that is a really weird looking back of a head but ok." Next contraction her head came out and sure enough, Gramma was vindicated. Our new baby girl was staring at the ceiling! They looked a little nervous according to my mom but sure enough with the next push her whole body came flying out. Dr. Meghan Foote said she guessed with the 4th child it doesn't matter which way they are facing!
Truly Ann Adams was born at 12:22 pm and has the distinction of being the only child in our family that didn't pee on me when she was first placed on my stomach! She weighed 9.7 lbs and was 21 inches long. Truly had lots of dark brown hair and was all sorts of chubby and covered in nastiness.

Gramma G cutting the cord. Cody was more than happy to let her have the privilege.

Not her best look!

Truly latched on immediately and was a great nurser right away.

Very proud Daddy!

This interesting picture was hanging on the wall in my room. Cody and I had a lot of fun making jokes about it. Very entertaining.
Someone got her Mommy's toes!
Belly shot from a few nights before birth.
Heading inside the hospital on Friday morning.
First bath.

It wasn't her favorite.
That's better.

Group photo!
They all loved her at first sight.

This is a great one!

Hazel entertained herself by spinning around in these curtains. She is sporting her gift from baby Truly, an Elsa doll and matching dress.

Pepper's baby gift was a My Little Pony that you could draw and color on.
Truly gave Morgan some Ben 10 toys and some Pokemon cards. She knows just what he likes:)

This is what Truly thinks of selfies!

Just love those cheeks and kissable lips.
