Florida Trip: St. Augustine

After we spent some time at the pool and visiting with Inez, Kim and family left. Then my parents took Hazel to Inez's home and put her down for a nap while the rest of us played. My dear friend, Cathy Snavely met up with us at the pool to spend the afternoon together. We played in the pool (where I got no pictures for some reason and I also forgot to take any pictures with Inez, oops!) till a storm threatened and we saw lightening. So we packed up the kids and headed to downtown St. Augustine. I thought it would be fun to take the kids to the Old Fort and I was so glad that I dragged everyone along. It was overcast and not too crazy hot and it was almost closing time so it wasn't very crowded either.
Our group of kids, minus the babies and Alice.

The kids were so excited to see the fort. I was excited to show them a place from my childhood.

It took Pepper and Jane forever to climb up on this ledge and then I took a quick photo and we moved on. I kind of wish I had gotten a better photo for all of their efforts!

It wasn't too sunny but still pretty muggy. And also the gnats were HORRIBLE!
At one point Jane's whole head was covered in them. These kids look thrilled I know.

The clothes they pick out for themselves says so much about their personalities!

Taj and Morgan were fast friends.

Ari taking in the view.

We were all on the look out for Mark who was arriving after getting out of a lecture for PA school.

I love the composition of this photo.

Can you see Jill?

I asked for poses and this is what I got.

The ladies.

Canons!

Jill's tiny baby bump.

One last photo as we were getting kicked out at closing time.
After the fort, we headed to Chick-fil-A so we could enjoy dinner and conversation without wrestling the kids.
Hazel loved cuddling with and climbing on Papa.
I said his name at dinner last night and she perked right up and kept repeating, "Papa! Papa!"

Our older crew.
We just love the Snavelys!!!

And a self portrait from Pepper to leave you with.
