Valentine's Day with Gramma and Papa

Valentine's Day has never been a huge holiday for us, but the kids always have fun dressing up and exchanging cards at school. Cody and I agreed that we wouldn't give gifts or anything so the whole holiday was pretty low key. The biggest excitement was having Gramma and Papa G. arrive on Friday, February 13th. Hooray!
Hazel all decked out for her Valentine's party at school on Thursday the 12th.

"This one was ready and excited for her Valentine's Day party."
"Older kids felt left out of the photo shoot."
This is how Hazel shows of her haul from the party....lovely!

Trying to capture a picture of Truly dressed up on Valentine's Day. This is the best I got for baby's first Valentine's Day celebration. Oh well!
On Friday night, our ward had their annual Chili Cook-off and pie baking contest. I told my parents that they needed to get here in time to go and I signed my dad up as a pie-tasting judge. They made it and we all had a fantastic time. My berry pie came in 2nd and we all ate very, very well.
On Saturday the 14th, we spent the day running errands and getting my parents settled in. That evening the adults, and Truly, went to Heidi and Bryce Jones' house for dinner with about 6 other couples. Then, Cody and I rushed home and put Truly to bed and then rushed off to meet up with all the other couples at the Carriage House Theatre to see another Agatha Christie murder mystery play. This is what we did last year and I LOVE this tradition. It was so fun getting to share it with my parents this year! A storm started that night and got worse during the night. The temperatures also plummeted so our stake president cancelled church for our stake. We had such a great day spending all that time together safe inside our warm home. We played lots of games and ate lots of yummy food and laughed a lot. We LOVE having family visit!
We had our big Valentine's Day themed meal on Sunday afternoon.

"Celebrating Valentine's Day on this frigid winter morning with Gramma and Papa G. Happy to have church cancelled and the opportunity to spend this day warm together playing games and eating yummy food."
"Gramma G. reading 'The Book With No Pictures,' by BJ Novak. A big hit with everyone."
Here's a video of the kids enjoying Gramma's reading:

This little lady has now made it to the playroom and she's pretty excited about it.

So close!!!!
My attempt to include myself in a holiday photo.
Pepper made tons of valentine's for everyone.

Being the baby means hanging out on the floor while everyone else plays a game and has all the fun.
"I spy a big girl trying to join her sisters in the playroom. So close!"
