Last night I worked for a couple hours on this blog post and then none of it saved and I couldn't get it to post. I'm a little annoyed I have to do this all again, along with packing for our big road trip to Utah for tomorrow but I wanted to have this done before we left. So here goes...
A week ago Monday was Morgan's Little Gym Summer Showcase day for his Funny Bugs class. It was a huge class with lots of fun kids and teachers. Morgan was sometimes overwhelmed by all the craziness but he has continued to progress and develop well.
The beam is still not his favorite but with the help of Teacher Miranda he has improved.
He's a jumping fool!
Teacher Bill helping him get over his fear of the high beam.
Morgan loves to do anything on the bar, including swing over it.
Bear crawl
Yay for Funny Bugs!
This past Monday, Morgan started his fall semester and there are only two other girls in his class. He was very excited.
Last Wednesday we had our playgroup at yet another wading pool. It was the last week for the wading pools in Cuyahoga Falls so we decided to take advantage before the fun was closed for the season.
Heather showing off her stylish nursing cover.
Good-bye summer pool playdates. Come again soon!
On Thursday night, we were invited to join some friends at Ox Bow Metro Park for an evening hike and s'mores fest. Cody couldn't make it because he had a big web-event he had to do (which he totally rocked at and has gotten huge props from everyone!) Pepper is very happy to have Becky and baby Ben back. Yesterday she saw a picture of baby Ben and very clearly said, "baby Ben." This girl is going to be a talker!
Morgan is also VERY happy to have Abby back!
That night I was watching Pepper just run around with the bigger kids trying to play and explore and it hit me how big she is getting.
My big baby girl!
Abby and baby Ben having a photo shoot.
This is how my kids helped...a lot.
Yay for fun summer nights.
We went on a nice walk through the woods and along the Cuyahoga River. The kids had fun finding sticks and little frogs.

Later the bigger kids started exploring the river bank. Every few minutes I would check on Morgan and he would be progressively wetter and muddier. Finally, I pulled him out when he was completely soaked and had gray clay stuck all over his face and hands. Good thing I brought pajamas and baby wipes!

Jessie and Naomi
Becky brought an article that had 5 or 6 different s'more recipes. We all had a great time trying out all the different flavor combinations. Pepper parked herself on that bench and ate everything that came her way. I swear she did not move for almost an hour.
Relaxing after her feast with yet another chocolate graham cracker in her little fist.
Heather and Jack brought some bubble swords for us all to play with. I had a great time entertaining the kids for a long time with the magic of bubbles.

The mommies relaxing while the daddies were in charge of making sure no kids washed down stream.
Baby Gwendolyn slept while Pepper hung out with her mommy. We had such a great time being outside and enjoying the summer evening and yummy foods with all our friends. Thank you, to Becky and Jerry for putting that all together!
On this Monday night, we invited Becky, Jerry, Abby and baby Ben over for a combined Family Home Evening. We also invited our neighbors, Eric, Amy, Abe and Simon over as well. Jerry and Amy are both ER doctors and they've known each other for a few years. We had a great time letting the kids play and getting to know each other better.

The only sad thing is that they are moving next summer.
Amy, baby Ben and Cody surveying the treat situation.
Cody joked with the guys that the FHE activity would be dismantling our brick hearth. The guys thought that sounded like a great idea and got started.
The kids thought it was a pretty fun idea as well.
Morgan was a big helper. "Safety, pumpkin, safety!"
After the first layer of bricks and mortar, we discovered that the rest of it was filled with sand and dirt. Cody and Morgan dug it out for awhile until it was time for bed. Morgan thought it was pretty cool that we had a sand pit in our family room.
Cody didn't think it was quite as cool. The joys of doing your own home construction projects.
This Wednesday for playgroup we went to the Gorge Metro Park. We went on a hike up to Mary Campbell's Cave and then had a picnic. We saw lots of cool rock formations like this example of "pudding rocks."
This is Mary Campbell's Cave. She was captured when she was twelve by Native Americans and lived with them until she was set free at the end of the French and Indian War.
Getting Morgan, Jack and Abby to all stand still and smile for a picture proved to be an impossible task.
The girls exploring the trail closely.

I promise Abby really does love me:)
Yay for best little buddies.
Morgan holding his stick rifle on Mary Cambell's rock monument.
Everyone enjoying our picnic.
Morgan and Jack had a great time shooting each other with sticks and playing tag. Abby did not seem to quite grasp the excitement of these games. Crazy boys!
Yesterday afternoon I was starting to think about all our upcoming fall playgroup activities and I got to thinking about Halloween. Then I wondered if Pepper would fit into any of Morgan's old costumes made by Grandma Adams. Turns out she does and she is ADORABLE in them!
I mean, honestly, is there any cuter elephant in the world?! Except maybe for Morgan when he was 9 mos old in this costume.
Since Pepper was playing dress up, Morgan decided he needed to wear a Grandma orginial as well.
After being an adorable elephant, Pepper became an adorable monkey.
The monkey costume is still a bit big and was a little more awkward to move around in but neither costume seemed to slow her down too much. Good thing she likes to dress up. That bodes well for her future!

We are so excited to head out west tomorrow to see all of our family. We are first driving to Wichita to see Cody's sister and family and then to Vernal to see Cody's grandmother. We will spend a couple days in the Provo area before heading down to southern Utah and Cody's parents' home for the rest of our trip. I'm exhausted and excited just thinking about it. Well, I guess I better get back to packing!
