Random February

Here is what we were randomly up to during the long, cold, gray month of February:
The kids trying out their new bouncy house on one of the many snow days.

"Morgan's birthday present is being put to good use on this snow day. Let's hope the bouncy house survives my crazy kids!"
This winter was rough not just of the amount of snow we got, but because it was always so cold nothing ever melted. So the snow just kept piling up and up and it was almost always too cold to play in it. Not our favorite!

A little photo shoot of Truly trying to master the crawling thing. Here are two videos:

"Finally getting a handle on this sitting up business!"
"Our backyard these days. Bet Gramma and Papa G. can't wait to fell this 12 degree weather!"

"After-nap snuggles in Hazel's bed. Hard to say what is my favorite part of two afternoon nappers; the quiet, alone time, or how happy, warm, and snuggly they are when they get up!"

"It's hard to put into words how much I love baby toes. So much so, my poor baby has been barefoot almost all winter because I can't bear to cover them up!"
This girl makes me smile and want to scream every single day! Love her sweet little personality!
Truly and I hanging out in nursery because they were having a slow day and because she is reaching the point of being way too crazy to take to class.

Pepper and Hazel love to sit with Joe and Josette Ellebruch and their two nieces, Madi and Mia. We lose them most Sundays to their pew. Since, I am by myself most of the time due to Cody's high council calling, I don't fight it.
"A few moments from our Sunday. Morgan had his baptism preview today. Getting close!"
I was feeding Truly breakfast and lunch in this bouncy seat so we could sit in the family room together, instead of the dining room but after these pictures, I got the impression the bouncy seat's days were numbered.

"Someone is serious about her 'Curious George' watching. I spy monkey toes!"
Here was the berry crumble pie I made for the chili cook-off.

"Berry-crumble pie about to go in. Added a little touch to celebrate the holiday."
It was a very delicious pie that I would be happy to make again.
Here's a tiny video of Truly and a truck:

"Day 1 of Wiggles indoctrination. Check!"
I love watching these two play quietly together. They are really getting good at working together and not fighting over things.
Pepper joined Gramma G. and I getting pedicures.

Getting my beach toes ready for Great Wolf Lodge and Aruba.

The day after we got back from Great Wolf Lodge and my parents' last night with us I hosted book club at my house. I told Gramma ahead of time so she could also read the book. We read, "There Eyes Were Watching God." by Zora Neale Hurston. The main male character's name is Tea Cake so we went looking for some tea cakes to serve but could only find these beautiful little cheesecakes and mousse. It was a great book club evening and I'm so glad I got to share it with my mom.
Watching "Big Hero 6" for movie/pizza night.

"Family movie night with Daddy and Baymax! Daddy is the best seat in the house."
Now, on to March!

Morgan's 1st Pinewood Derby

On Wednesday night, February 25th, Morgan participated in his first pinewood derby car race for cub scouts. Cody and Morgan had worked hard on Morgan's car and they were both excited. Unfortunately, Cody got the stomach flu that morning and was having a very rough day. That was also the morning, Gramma and Papa G. left us. Cody rallied enough to take Morgan and they both had a great time. Morgan came in 8th place and got an award for best design.

"This cutie's first ever Pinewood Derby!" as posted by Bekah Griesmyer
Sidenote: The night after we got back from GWL Truly and Pepper both puked all over their beds. Cody got sick that Wednesday and Hazel and I got sick the next week. Our pediatrician calls it "Waterpark disease." He says everyone gets a stomach bug after going to those places. We'll probably still go to them but it does make you want to be a little more diligent about cleanliness and not getting the water in your mouth!
