Park in the fall while saving the Toast

Yesterday I took Morgan and Chase to the park to go on the swings, enjoy the pretty flowers and to just basically save my sanity by getting us all out of the house. Ashley and Eliot were good enough to join us and we had an enjoyable time despite the chill in the air. You can just tell these two love to be bundled up!
Eliot likes to be laid back about most situations.

Finally, I decided to get in one of these pictures, so here I am with my boys!

Nothing like just relaxing while someone else does all the work to make for an enjoyable ride!

One of Cody's clients is Country Crock and here's a funny little website they have going now to promote their spreadable butter. I thought this cartoon was funny because it reminds me of upper-eastside patients from my doctor's office. I swear they all had summer homes in Boca Raton, such a cliche! Springboks and Bathing Beauties

Here are a couple fun links we found. The first one is a great Halloween themed website... http://www.dedge.com/flash/hangman/hangman.swf ...I found this on a friend's blog. I wasn't that great at it but the skeleton is pretty funny. This one...http://www.tfdutch.com/foodh.htm is a fun website that lets you know what national food day belongs with each day on the calendar, for instance, I was born on National Fluffernutter Day...I'm so proud!

We've been having a pretty good week not much to report, except that Cody was excited that South Africa won the Rugby World Cup last Saturday. We had our friends Brian, Ashley and Eliot over to eat mini hamburgers, homemade french fries and watch the game while Cody narrates. Fun for all! During the game, while the men sat on the couch Ashley and I threw the boys in the tub for some good clean fun. I swear Morgan does not always have his mouth hanging open but it does seem to happen a lot when we're taking pictures! I like that Eliot was modest enough to cover himself for the second picture...good boy!

Ice Cream Quiz

I was a little upset not to be coffee ice cream since that's my favorite and I also was a little upset to see vanilla...how boring! I'm not boring right?! But then I read the description and I must admit it seems somewhat accurate. So enjoy the quiz and let me know your results!

You're as popular and relaxing as vanilla ice cream. You go with the flow, and get along with all sorts of people. You appreciate peace and simplicity, so you sometimes find crowds and loud noises overwhelming. You are a chilled-out, calming influence on the people in your life, and your friends appreciate how supportive and flexible you are.

The Bubble Boy

I'm pretty sure this post is self explanatory but we thought it was too cute to keep to ourselves. This summer we bought a bubble maker for Morgan off a street vendor but never managed to use it. So Cody decided what better time than during Morgan's bath to use it. Morgan thought the bubbles were pretty cool and enjoyed trying to touch them. The last picture makes Morgan look a little slow on the uptake but I assure you it's just my sub par picture taking skills and not his IQ.
The lack of hair makes for great bubble traction!

Morgan the Crawling Monkey

Fall has finally reached the northeast and there is a wonderful chill in the air. Of course it will be more wonderful once they finally turn on the heat and the chill in the air is not in my apartment but I digress. This chilly air has brought with it the need for Morgan to have new winter apparel...also his ever growing body has contributed to this need for new clothing. I was recently shopping for his winter hat and thought to myself, I could just buy any warm looking hat with a solid color or bold stripe but then something fun caught my eye and I thought...why be boring if you don't have to be! So here it is, Morgan's new winter hat in all its Monkey glory!!!

Cody went for another jog with Morgan on Saturday and since the weather was the slightest bit cold I felt the need to dress Morgan like he was headed into the Siberian Tundra. He had little mittens on but couldn't grasp anything and was just sitting in a pathetic, unhappy state so Cody took them off and let his little fingers get nice and bright red. Mother decided to overlook this!

Another development in the life of Morgan is his ability to crawl around. He is still figuring things out and hasn't yet pushed himself up off the floor but he manages and with amazing speed if properly motivated. Chase, the little boy I watch twice a week, has been a great motivating factor. Chase can crawl like a champ and walk along the furniture and walls. Ever since Morgan saw this he decided he must do that also and tries to chase Chase around the livingroom. This little video was taken on one of the first days Morgan tried to attempt some movement. Man these little guys grow up fast!

Beth and Morgan's Florida Adventure

Morgan and I just recently returned from a week long Florida excursion. We flew down on Wed. the 3rd to visit with family and participate in my cousin Ashley's wedding in Key West. On Thursday my entire family, including our cousin Terry, did a three car caravan to Summerland Key where we had rented two houses for the weekend. We were right on the canal and had kayaks to go exploring with. My Auntie Cheryl (#1) also came to play with us.

Friday we did some sightseeing in downtown Key West then went to the beach for the ceremony. We were worried about rain but the ceremony was beautiful and short and sweet, just how we like them! Some quick pictures were taken and then we all headed to a seafood restaurant for the reception. We were all seated in an outdoor area, because I think my immediate family plus Cheryl (#1, I have 2 Auntie Cheryls) and Terry were the only non-smokers of the bunch. The skies continued to look ominous and eventually the rain came to fruition. We all tried to play it off with comments like "We won't melt...We are wash and dry able" until the heavens opened and a full on tropical storm was upon us. The lovely restaurant staff decided to wait till we were all completely soaked and had our food before taking us inside. I was stranded outside standing in a puddle, with a waterfall flowing down my back with Morgan, my diaper bag, plate of food and Morgan's car seat. Finally a waitress offered to help and a local man helped me over a rope that was in my way. Once inside we continued to eat and enjoy each others company in a wet soggy sort of way!

Morgan and I at the Blond Giraffe. They sell Frozen Key Lime Pie dipped in chocolate on a stick. The most brilliant delicious dessert in the WORLD!
Key West has Ferrel chickens that roam the streets.

Saturday we went kayaking in the morning and swam in the canals. Jill, Kim, Jane, Mikayla and myself were all in one kayak and enjoyed serenading the neighbors with lively renditions of the "Wheels on the Bus" and "Monkeys on the Bed" (No, No Monkeys!) Later that day we went to Bahai Honda State Park Beach and had fun playing in the choppy seaweed infested water from the storm the night before. That night we went into Key West once again to hang out with Uncle Billy and the newlyweds. We visited the Southernmost Point and went to a popular beach to watch the sunset, which of course went behind a cloud and we missed the whole thing. However, it was a great trip with lots of family fun. I'm not sure if I will ever feel the need to go back to the Keys but I'm glad I can at least say I've been there.

My dad the mighty snorkeler!

Back at home we hung out with family and friends and everyone threw a birthday party for me on Monday the 8th. My mom surprised me with a massage from my good friend Jessica earlier in the day and everyone came over for great sandwiches and cake that night. Tuesday night we went to my sister Jill's house for dinner and Jane put on a show for us. I have by far the cutest nieces and nephews in the world!

Cody's sweet welcome home. Morgan was excited to see his daddy again!

Morgan and I miss everyone and are looking forward to visiting during Christmas...with Cody. If there's one thing I'll take away from this trip is that I'm not meant to be a single parent so Cody better not get any bright ideas!

The Little Girl in Me

I am Elizabeth Bennet!
The little girl in me loves romantic Jane Austin novels and anything that seemed remotely related to my name, for example Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice and Beth in Little Women. My friend Jessica had this link on her blog and I thought it was a fun little quiz. I could watch Sense and Sensibility every other day I think! It's good to be a hopeless romantic now and then.

Take the Quiz here!
