Baby Birds and Crazy Kids

Last week for playgroup we ventured out to see the baby birds for the third year in a row. I am glad this has become a little tradition because these little guys still amaze me every year.
The baby pheasant that have just recently hatched with their eggs.

Babies being relocated to a bigger box.

Isla and Stephanie checking out the babies.

This is Pepper attempting to smile and pose with the grown up birdies. I think her modeling skills could use some work.

We all picked dandelions to feed the birds with. The kids had fun throwing the flowers at the birds.

Or just collecting flowers.

Simon and Pepper checking out the big turkeys.

The birds were fun for the kids but I must admit the big hit of the morning was the rock box and toys.

Pepper could have stayed there all day!

Simon was pretty happy too, although this picture does not quite capture that feeling.

In other baby bird news, Cody got me some hanging plants for mother's day and the one near our kitchen door now has a tiny nest with four tiny eggs. I took it down to water it and discovered this amazing little sight. Luckily, the parents seemed fine to return to the nest after I watered it and took a picture. How fun!

So this isn't the best picture of my kids but I thought it was a classic moment to capture. Yep, this is how my kids entertain themselves on rainy afternoons when mom is on the computer. And no, we still haven't hung up hardly any pictures in our house, and yes, we have lived here for almost a year!

I had to document Morgan's latest fashion trend. He now will only wear my socks or Cody's socks pulled up as high as they will go. The kid can finally wear shorts and this is what he does now! I asked them to pose for me and this is what I got.

Such crazy kids! Morgan's teachers at school said they look forward every day to see what he will wear next. Yep, that's my kid the trendsetter!

Spring is in the Air

Not that this is a good shot or that my belly actually looks pregnant as much as it just looks chubby, but here is a picture for posterity. I am now 14 weeks.
Last Thursday, was our pretend Friday since Cody was going out of town for the weekend. So we ordered pizza a played outside while waiting for Daddy and the pizza lady to show up. After dinner, we went outside for popsicles and to mow the front yard. Everyone was excited to help Daddy with his work.

My men hard at work. I love the look of concentration on both of their faces.

My neighbors gave us some free passes to the Cleveland Zoo so I called up a friend and we took the kids on Saturday afternoon. It was finally a beautiful day and the zoo was pretty crowded but we had a fantastic time. I still love the Akron Zoo but I will definitely be back to this one as well! Here is a less than year old baby rhino.

All the kids were super excited to see the giraffes and we were very lucky that they came right up to where we were to eat. Such amazing animals.

After this we had a nice picnic lunch, and took a nice walk around a pond. Granted the walk took us in the wrong direction but it was really nice:)

After a hike up a very big hill with the two little ones in a double stroller, thanks Stacey for being the trooper on that one, we finally made it to the playground area and primate/aquarium area.

Very fun. Pepper and I both got a bit of sunburns. I guess we are not used to the sun around here.

The inside aquarium/primate area was awesome and we saw some humongous fish. The monkeys were all very active and swinging around too. The kids were very excited to see the massive gorillas so we sat on a bench and had a snack while we watched them hang out.

Then we hiked, actually it was more of a sprint, back down the hill to the Australia area. We took a train ride to see the kangaroos and other animals.

Finally, we stopped by the elephants on our way out. They are opening this week a big elephant exhibit so you couldn't get very close to them yet but they are always cool to see. We didn't make it to all of the zoo because we got there late and were totally pooped after a few hours but I am excited to go back again this summer and see the rest of it.

After the zoo, we were invited over to Becky and Jerry's for dinner. I was very grateful that someone else was doing the cooking, since that is my least favorite thing to deal with while pregnant. Also, the kids just love Abby and Benny so it is always a good time. Right as we were getting ready to leave Pepper comes to the top of the stairs and announces, "I am a cowboy!" I just started laughing and had to take a picture. This girl cracks me up. So that was our weekend. Cody came home Sunday afternoon and all was again right with the world. Hope your weekend was pretty great as well.
