My Little Sachemo!

Our dear friend and neighbor, Gladys, came over for a visit last week. She is an older woman in our ward who has a lot of health problems and does not make it out very often. She lives across the street and just got a walker so she wanted to test it out by trekking to our home. We were all very glad to have her, especially Morgan! Not only did Gladys come bearing gifts but one was a musical instrument, his favorite! (Oh and she's a super nice grandma type, which is also why Morgan loves her!) I have no doubt music will be a big part of Morgan's life. Morgan did not want to let the trumpet go and carried it everywhere for days. I even let him take it to the park which I usually never do but he just couldn't let go. This is Morgan rearing back to play his horn...and like always pants are optional in our home!
A true testament to how much Morgan loved his gift. He kept trying to keep it in his mouth along with his beloved "B". And yes, my child is watching a movie, which is why he won't look at me...I'm pregnant, sue me!
Later that day Morgan ate some ice and I realized that he is a little Gramma Goodier, since my mother's two great loves in life are playing her trumpet and chewing ice! This ones for you Gramma!

Picture Tag

Tagged: Here are the rules...you pick the 4th picture in your 4th folder and give a brief description.
Beth's Confusion: If I looked up my pictures this was my 4th folder, 4th picture. It was our Halloween 2006 party and I am pretty pregnant with Morgan. This is our go-to costume idea (we're farmers, in case you're wondering what we are doing) and yes, we are going to be farmers again this year! However, if I used the upload button, this was my 4th folder, 4th picture. This is Morgan on a beach on Long Island when he was around 2 mos old. This was the first time we really captured his smile on film and one of my favorite pictures.
I tag: Ashley, Kiasa, Minde and Dawn

Updates of Excitements

So I won't leave everyone in suspense for the biggest excitement update of all...Yep, it's true...that is a baby bump! We are expecting another little bundle of joy this coming April. I am about 12 weeks along right now and feeling horribly sick and yucky. Some days are better than others but despite the not fun parts, we are super excited!
This partly explains why I have not stayed up to date on all we've been doing lately. Last week was jam packed full for us and I don't feel like doing anything during nap time except take a nap so not much gets done. But here goes the quick recap of our lives:
Here are the wonderful group jumping shots from the Poconos I promised. Ashley, aka crazy jumping hair lady, was the instigator of these shots and we all had a blast. The ladies: Me, Minde, Ashley and MargySome of the group were watching a Saturday football game and this poster was held up behind the announcers. We all had a great laugh at this one!The ladies giving it a go.So I don't win any points for creativity but after a few shots of that I decided it was best if I was the photographer!I'm so impressed by their air! This is Oliver, Tyler and Cody.Cody just cracks me up in all of these photos. He's so committed to the jump! This is by far my favorite shot. The grown-ups are all just crazy and the little boys look awestruck! An attempt at a family photo near the lake. On Sunday October 5th we took the train up to Croton-Harmon to visit the Great Pumpkin Blaze at Van Cortland Manor. We had heard about this from friends last year and I was determined we wouldn't miss out again. This is Morgan stuffing in dinner on the way up. It was about a half hour ride and I don't think he stopped eating the whole way. His area was a mess but he was happy! Our camera will not win any awards so we tried our best. That is the manor house behind me. It was lined with jack-o-lanterns and kept changing colors.Morgan is enthralled as you can tell. This gives you kind of an idea of what they do. I'm very glad we went, even if Morgan was less than excited about the pumpkins. It was a great way to kick off the Halloween/Fall season! Check out more fun pics at Ashley's blog.On Saturday we attended the Bella's 2nd b-day party. It was all about colors and balls. Their apartment was filled with colorful balls, including a little ball filled baby pool. There were a lot of slightly older kids that sort of scared Morgan and Eliot but they had a great time playing with all of Bella's toys in her room!We offered Morgan a bite of a small cupcake and of course he decided the whole thing needed to be in his mouth! In true birthday girl fashion, Bella was covered in frosting and crumbs. Kiasa was very brave for letting the kids just have at the cupcakes! It was a great party with lots of yummy food. Thanks for the fun Bella, Kiasa and Brian!Yesterday was a beautiful Sunday afternoon so we decided to take a walk to our favorite quiet weekend spot, the Conservatory Gardens.
Morgan decided to take a break near the fountain and eat some goldfish crackers.
What a cutie! I just love the way his hair curls up on the side of his head. Oh and his 1950's style bangs are thanks to me. It is not easy trying to get a wet soapy kid to sit still in the bathtub while you're coming at them with giant scissors and a comb. Maybe next time I'll wait till I have backup and an extra set of hands and eyes. Luckily Morgan could care less!
So that is a pretty good recap of what we've been up to this past week or so. I think life will slow down this week...after book club on Tuesday of course...that reminds me...I need another nap!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday to Me
Happy Birthday to Me
Happy Birthday dear, Beth
Happy Birthday to ME!Since this is really my blog I guess I have to give a shout out to myself. I am 29 today and feeling pretty good about life. A few years ago I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish before I turned 29 since that would almost be 30. Surprisingly enough I did accomplish many things on the list; I got married, have at least one child, live in a big city and finished my Masters degree. Sadly my french is still not great and I didn't write the 3 short stories I was supposed to but all in good time!
Yesterday Cody took off work early and thanks to the cooperation of some lovely friends, we were able to run away to NJ by ourselves for the evening. Cody took me to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. It was delicious as always. Then onto a quick trip to Target...always a treat. After that we jetted down to Monmouth County to attend the wedding open house of my great childhood friend Sharon. It was great to see Sharon and Ben and catch up with some old Eatontown Ward friends. There has never been another ward in my life where the friendships have run as deep as this one (Harlem 1st I am sure will run a very close second!). My family has been best friends with these families since I was in kindergarten. We all attend each others celebrations whether in Utah, NJ or wherever we have wandered. I am so very grateful that we have all remained so close. It doesn't matter if we see each other once a year or once every decade or so, we all care for each other and keep in touch through the ever growing grapevine. Congrats again to Sharon and Ben and I hope they have a wonderful, beautiful life in Ohio!
I have many more things to catch up on but my laundry is almost done and my son is almost up...yep that's right I lead a very exciting life on my birthday!
Enjoy my b-day everyone!
