Pepper's Last Day of 3yr Preschool

Pepper's last day of her first year of preschool was on Wednesday, May 22nd. I wondered if she would be really sad that school was over but with all the fun of playing with friends I don't think she really  noticed. Hazel stayed with Avi's dad and grandparents again so that I could focus on Pepper. It was super hot and muggy inside (the forecast was thunderstorms, which of course did not happen) but we got to go in and out a lot so we all survived.
First stop was roller coasters.

Right next door to the preschool/church is a National Guard station. They were nice enough to bring over two of their ambulance trucks to let the kids see and touch. They also brought little goodie bags for all the kids. The teachers had prepared a little cheer for the soldiers and gave the kids little flags to carry. A very fitting way to kick off Memorial Day weekend.
Can you just imagine how fair skinned, curly-haired and freckled their kids would be?!

Pepper with friends from her class.

Lafe taking a drive.

Pepper's turn.

Trying to organize a bunch of hyper preschoolers for a picture is not an easy task!

Bubbles!

Having fun with the parachute in the shade.

These are out of order but here is a photo of Pepper and I relaxing after an exhausting but fun morning at school.
I'm so proud of how well Pepper did at her first year of preschool.
Never a dull moment with this one!

Pepper wanted to take a picture and Morgan was excited about something so here is the result.
Bouncy house!

Taking a much needed water break with Brianna after jumping in the super, steamy hot bouncy house.

A little sand art. I had to guard this with my life so that Pepper or one of her friends didn't shake it up and turn it into a bottle of brown sand...like most of the bottles I saw walking around!

Snacks of hot dogs and chips on patriotic tablecloths.

Limbo time for Pepper's class.

Here's a video of Pepper's class attempting to Limbo:

Always a good time to have a Popsicle with friends.

Pepper was very excited to give Mrs. Yonders her present.
Mrs. Yonders wrote on Pepper's report card that she was so happy that she had had Pepper in her class.
We were very happy about that too!

Now, Miss Stacey's turn.

Miss Stacey helped out all year with Mrs. Yonders class and other activities at school.
She is always such a happy, smiley face every morning!

Mrs. Renzi is the director of the preschool and does such a great job with all the children.
Pepper loved bringing books in to school so that she could have special one-on-one reading time with Mrs. Renzi.
She did it so often Mrs. Renzi gave her a My Little Pony book to keep on the last week of school.

Mr. Leo's Animal Show at Woodland Preschool

On Monday, May 20th Woodland Preschool had a man name Mr. Leo and some of his animals over for a visit. The 3 yr students do not come on Mondays but they invited us to come for the animal show as well. So, Pepper, Hazel and I headed over to see the show. I wondered how Hazel would do but she was great about sitting in my lap or playing near me and seemed to have no interest in touching any of the animals. Fine by me!
First up was a chinchilla.

Apparently, it was super soft.
We found out that is because they do not lick their fur or like to get wet, which helps them stay so soft.
Instead they take dust baths.

Pepper was happy with that animal and we got to see it take a dust bath, too. Very cute.

One of my favorites, an albino pygmy hedgehog.

That is one cute animal!

Next up was a tortoise.
I always think they look like animatronic robots when they move and eat!

Mrs. Renzi picked some daisies for him to eat and he slowly and surely helped himself to all of them.

Bearded dragon from New Zealand.

Pepper was starting to get less enthusiastic about these animals.

But she was still game to touch the alligators tail.

And I was surprised she touched the toad, even after it peed and pooped all over the floor.

The snake was another story.

Hazel happily helped herself to Lesli's lap and key chain.

As you can tell Pepper was thrilled to be stuck in the middle of all the kids  holding a snake.

Touch the tarantula...not a chance!

I love that the preschool works hard to have lots of different events for the kids at the school. I don't get to go to much because of Hazel but throughout the year they will have musicians, artists, animal experts, the tooth fairy, actors and others come to the school to help give the kids a well rounded experience. And it saves all of us the hassle of crazy field trips with little kids!
