On Monday, May 20th Woodland Preschool had a man name Mr. Leo and some of his animals over for a visit. The 3 yr students do not come on Mondays but they invited us to come for the animal show as well. So, Pepper, Hazel and I headed over to see the show. I wondered how Hazel would do but she was great about sitting in my lap or playing near me and seemed to have no interest in touching any of the animals. Fine by me!
| First up was a chinchilla. |
Apparently, it was super soft. We found out that is because they do not lick their fur or like to get wet, which helps them stay so soft. Instead they take dust baths. |
| Pepper was happy with that animal and we got to see it take a dust bath, too. Very cute. |
| One of my favorites, an albino pygmy hedgehog. |
| That is one cute animal! |
Next up was a tortoise. I always think they look like animatronic robots when they move and eat! |
| Mrs. Renzi picked some daisies for him to eat and he slowly and surely helped himself to all of them. |
| Bearded dragon from New Zealand. |
| Pepper was starting to get less enthusiastic about these animals. |
| But she was still game to touch the alligators tail. |
| And I was surprised she touched the toad, even after it peed and pooped all over the floor. |
| The snake was another story. |
| Hazel happily helped herself to Lesli's lap and key chain. |
| As you can tell Pepper was thrilled to be stuck in the middle of all the kids holding a snake. |
| Touch the tarantula...not a chance! |
I love that the preschool works hard to have lots of different events for the kids at the school. I don't get to go to much because of Hazel but throughout the year they will have musicians, artists, animal experts, the tooth fairy, actors and others come to the school to help give the kids a well rounded experience. And it saves all of us the hassle of crazy field trips with little kids!
