Trip Out West: Part 3

Once we finally made it to Cody's parents' home in Virgin, we were able to relax and enjoy not getting in the car again for awhile! Morgan and Pepper loved helping Grandma and Papa in their awesome garden. Can you believe this squash?!

On Friday night we went to the Peach Days fair in Hurricane, Utah. We went to this fair and parade the first two years we were married and we were really excited to be back.

Pepper's first bouncy castle. She was a little confused at first but then her brother came in and bounced her around and she had the time of her life.

Morgan had a lot of fun getting whipped around the parking lot in this cool cow train.

And sliding down this huge slide. I think his favorite part was the three teenage girls who kept sliding with him.

Gotta love being out west.

Saturday morning we got up and headed back down to Hurricane for the parade. We got there a bit late and had to sit in the sun.

Morgan and Pepper had a blast trying to catch as much candy as possible. Luckily, they also threw otter pops and handed out cold water bottles to help keep us cooled down.

While we were there Grandma was helping out some friends from church by feeding their chickens and horses and collecting eggs. Morgan loved every chance he got to go help her.

We had many breakfasts of fresh eggs. Delicious!

Saturday evening Grandma and Papa were in charge of the concession booth at the rodeo. We all went to help set up. Pepper helped by eating all the ice in the coolers and Morgan helped by taking a nap in the van.

Pepper and I went home so she could go to bed while everyone else enjoyed the rodeo.

I love the way the red rocks look in the background with the setting sun shining on them.

One of the evening's highlights was the chicken chase. They lined all the little kids up and then let a bunch of chickens go and the kids were supposed to catch them. Cody couldn't get Morgan to participate but they sure had a blast watching it.

I think Morgan's favorite part was eating the slushie Grandma bought him. Morgan must have gone through five cases of popsicles while we were at Grandma's house. All day that was all he wanted, popsicles and chocolate milk. I have told him they all stayed at Grandma's house and there are no more here:)

What every man needs, a gun, a briefcase and no pants!

Not a bad neighborhood to take a Sunday walk, huh?!

Monday morning the boys decided to go shooting.

It's hard to say if he's excited, scared or bored.

Of course we had to make a stop at our favorite Cafe Rio. We also ate at one in Orem and were very excited to eat at the new In & Out Burger in American Fork. Yummy, yummy food.

We had left Pepper at home taking a nap and took Morgan on an afternoon lunch date. After mexican food we walked across the parking lot to get frozen custard.

Delicious!

That evening we went into Zions National Park for a nice walk.

I think I have pictures just like this with Morgan at various ages. It will be sad when he's too big to ride on Daddy's shoulders. My goodness how time flies.

On the way back to the car we spotted a mule deer. They must be very used to humans because Morgan was able to get very close and he wasn't exactly being quiet about it.

One of our favorite parts about Grandma's house is the pool and hot tub. The pool was already a bit on the refreshing side so we spent most of our time in the hot tub.

So wonderfully color coordinated.

Morgan has a hard time waking up no matter where he is. Tuesday afternoon, Cody flew home from Vegas. On Wednesday, we took the kids down to St. George to play at a new water/sprinkler park they have made downtown.

It was AWESOME!!!

This place had it all. It had water falls, a lazy river, rocks to climb on, stairs and more water falls.

Just a little on the chilly side.

We stayed forever and had a complete blast. I would have spent my entire summer here if we lived here.

After a few days, Pepper warmed right up to this Papa as well. She would follow him around, holding his hand and begging to be held. He has back troubles so he couldn't hold her as much but she always perked right up when she heard his voice or we said his name. This girl is just crazy about her Papas!

We missed having Cody there but I am so glad the kids and I got to stay longer and enjoy the peaceful, beautiful environment. You feel like you are in a little coccoon, where the rest of the world can just move on without you for a little while and there are no worries. I truly love it there and can't wait to go back again next year...I hope!
